Default Repotted Phal

My mom has 2 phals. One she just got for Valentine's Day, the other she got either at the end of school last year or that year's Christmas, we can't remember. It's a white phal, and had a few lovely flowers. They lasted about a month, and we watered it once a week, at best. Saturday, we placed an order at repotme.com for an orchid mix, a pair of pots(for when we get to repotting her second phal), shears and Physan. We got that order today, so I decided to repot that white phal right away. I was worried about it since it was cock-eyed in the pot and hadn't been repotted in, well, ever, as far as I know.

When I took the older Phal out of it's pot, I sincerely expected to have to remove a number of roots. To my surprise, the roots were in surprisingly good shape. We did have to trim shriveled roots off, and some roots hadn't enjoyed the pot too much and had kinked badly enough to need to be snipped, but other than that, it was in great shape for a big box phal. It's currently housed in a Carousel pot, carefully supported till it gets a new hold on its new medium. Hopefully, we didn't kill it.

It's more just expressing my surprise at how good the roots were. It had been in the same medium and pot for who knows how long before my mom was given it till today, and there was little to no rot.

Plus, it's my first time repotting any type of orchid
