So, how often do I water them then? I read online that it says to never let Phalaenopsis dry out completely.....

Do you have a picture of this vase arrangement so I can figure out how to do it....

Some also say to keep the orchids in the a dark room until they grow roots again and then expose them to the sun... does this work?

Won't dunking them in water bring about crown rot?

Speaking of crown rot, can someone tell me where that occurs. I just assumed it was at the top where the base of the leaves meet, but is it actually under that part where the roots meet leaf area? Or is that whole area, top and bottom, the "crown"

I can make a new thread if I need to. Maybe there already is one...

When you dunk them in water, you only dunk the roots, not the whole plant.
Crown rot starts when you get water in the very center of the plant, the place where new leaves appear. If you do get somein there just take a small piece of paper towel and wick it out.
Hope this helps....Jean

But there are basically no living roots left on 4 of the five...
Lots of string... but very little that greens up....

I'm just leaving the string there because I hears it helps stabilize the plant

Do you think the water culture is worth a try?
