Thanks rlilia!

When should I stake the spike? I'd like to have the blooms arc above the plant. Should I encourage upward growth soon or is the spike too fragile right now?

I thought I'd share pictures of my spike with you The first few buds are really forming and I'm hoping for some flowers in the not too distant future!

Default keiki

That probably is a keiki. Phalaenopsis orchids are characterized by these babies (also dendrobiums) that are produced when the plant it's not in a good health or shape. If there is still energy running into the plant, then the plant will focuse on growing babies, not leafes or roots, just for sure that the damage won't happen to the babies which will grow to a new, healthy plant. with growing the keikis.

Thanks I was interested because it had been like that since I purchased the plant (over a year ago), with no change/growth. Alas, I've rotted the roots and and keiki has died along with it. It's got 3 aerial roots and 1 regular root, and in the process of dropping its third leaf. Hoping I can save it. I've moved it into my bathroom, which has a higher humidity, got some KLN, and loosened up the media so that it would dry faster. Fingers crossed that I can save it!!

I've done it! MY FIRST EVER REBLOOM!! The flower started opening last night, and when I got home from work this evening it was the most beautiful flower I've ever seen.

As of right now I have 6 additional buds to open plus a branch that hasn't started producing buds yet. I'm SO thrilled!

Also, as I side note, my poor little root rotted phal in ICU is producing a new root and has stopped dropping leaves!

Thank you OB for all your help! I would not have gotten this bloom without you guys!
