Default Seed pods

Some of my phals developed seed pods, was wondering do they prevent the plant from growing/flowering while it matures?

I think it depends on whether or not your plant is growing in optimal conditions. I've had Catts set pods and cease all other growing, but I've also had some Catts and Phals set pod and keep growing. The difference was the growing area, and size of the plant. Setting seed is stressful for any orchid, and could definitely slow its growth down if the plant isn't healthy.

Growing leaves, developing flowers, setting seed pods all take energy. If you have no use for the seed pods, by removing the seed pods you'll have more energy for other functions of the plant.

It also depends on how many pods are on the plant.

One or two will not usually do anything. More than 2 will start to really put a strain on the plant.

How frequently the plant produces pods will also affect the plant. I would try not to have the orchids set seed every year if possible. Instead, every-other-year might be a lot safer for the plant's well-being.

Otherwise, yes, how strong/healthy the plant is and how much energy it is able to afford to expend on creating seeds will determine whether or not it will put out new growth.
