My phal has developed what I think is a basal keiki on one side and a spike on the other but I'm not certain. I've posted some pics so hopefully you all can help confirm.
The first 3 photos show what I think is the basal keiki. The suspected keiki has 2 leaves - one fairly large and one smaller leaf. The last 2 photos show a little nub that I think looks like a developing spike but could be another basal keiki starting out. I've added red arrows to the photos to help point out the growths. Take a look and let me know what you all think....
Congrats it is a keiki but the picture isn't clear enough for me to see if it is a spike or root. It is where a spike would emerge but occasionally a root will appear in the same area.
You definitely have a basal keiki, well on its way to being a second crown for the plant. I think the other growth is a spike, but the picture isn't clear enough to be certain. If the tip looks something like a mitten then it is almost certainly a spike. The plant looks healthy, so keep doing whatever you're doing.
