Arrow good books for growing hardy orchids

Hi,

I am interested in growing hardy orchids but don't know much about them. Are there any good books? I found a book called growing hardy orchids by Philip Seating, Philip Cribb, Margaret Ramsay and John Haggard is this a good book or should I find a different one.

Thanks for any help

Forget about books. If you want the best information on growing good, hardy, quality orchids, your best source is The American Orchid Society. Their website is full of the best cultural info money can buy. Give it a try. The next best resource is your local orchid club. Get to know the guy (s) and gal (s) that always bring in the best plants. Number three on the best places to get good info is the Santa Barbara Orchid Estates website. Carter and Holmes website. Most any of the larger orchid grower's websites have tons of info on growing great orchids. And then, if you can wade through the egos, this is one hell of a good site for very good info on growing orchids. And that is because we are such great folks to talk with. (except for that James guy) (-;

Some hardy orchids are super easy to grow. Others are pretty tricky to grow. I'm not sure how much info the AOS has on many of the hardy orchids that people want to grow.

The book you mention is a good start.

Honestly, if it isn't in that book, you may have to start looking around for the answers. The OB is another resource as is the Terrestrial Orchid Forum, (Terrestrial Orchids).

There isn't much traffic at the Terrestrial Orchid Forum compared to some other forums such as the OB, but post a question there and chances are, you could get a response some time down the line, (just don't expect it to be speedy).

Bill Mathis owns the Wild Orchid Company near me in PA. He has published a great book on the subject of growing hardy terrestrial orchids, and sells a lot of really nice plants.

I agree with Ray. I have his book and it has been tremendously helpful to me.
