How to mount Dendrobium Hercoglossum? Male
Default How to mount Dendrobium Hercoglossum?

I got hold of a Kiki the other day and it is in bud. At the moment I dunk it in a bucket to water it which suits me as I water all my plants that way...

So... I need to mount it... Or basket... Or pot.... It has lots more roots than canes and it seems to develop air roots which is probably part of its messy pendulous habit.

What best displays/ suits this plant?

If it wants to be pendulous, mounting, hanging pot or basket. Or potted with canes staked.

It's a very easy going plant and will do well in a pot or on a mount. It likes a lot of water during the warmer months and a bit drier in the Winter...but other than that...not the slightest bit fussy.

I water it nearly every day during the Spring and into the early Fall and then I back off on the watering to a couple of times a week. I don't remember what I have it potted in (it's been a couple of years since it's last repot) but I think it's a medium CHC w/some chopped sphag for extra moisture retention.

I have mine in a clay pot that I hang. It doesn't often produce keikis so it stays pretty neat. A rampant grower and a reliable bloomer if given enough light.

This pic was taken last Summer when it was just about done blooming.

You are very welcome! Glad I could help.
