Cattleya Keiki?? Female
Default Cattleya Keiki??

Hi everyone. I was wondering if you can tell what this is. I thought it was a sheath for my cattleya but it is coming off the underside of the pseudobulb and now it has roots. Is it a flower or keiki- Thanks

Its a new growth called a psuedobulb. If you are lucky it will bloom off that new one for you.

Yes, a new growth. Almost all cattleyas bloom from the top of the pseudobulb right where the leaf connects. They grow a sheath there or just the spike without a sheath, it varies.

Movnhorses:
That is one healthy shoot coming one - it may develop into a blooming sheath or may not - some do, some don't.
This little guy is VERY happy - the roots are huge and healthy as is the new shoot. Within the next growth cycle you will have to repot or allow the pseudo's to crawl out of the pot - sometimes they get caught between the pot and the old pseudo's and get distorted. But, again - whatever you are doing - KEEP DOING IT. The plant looks great and the new shoot is very nice -
Great Growing!
Steve
Why is it I have to edit EVERY post I make 16 times before I get it halfway right? I would love to blame it on ADD, but I think it is just age - AAAARRRRGGGHHH.
