Probably stupid question, but here it goes:
What hours should the lights be on for phals?
I am setting it on timer for 14 hours on/10 hours off, but should it be on from 6 am to 8pm, or from 7 am to 9 pm, or it doesn't matter?
People growing phals under lights, what hours do you have them on?
I keep them on 12 hrs all year. I don't think the plants care what time they get the light, be it daytime or nighttime as long as they get it. Some people put the lights on at night because their electricity is cheaper from their ultility.
I used to vary the times between summer and winter but then forgot 1 year and it didn't seem to make a difference under my conditions.
I agree with Bill, I have been growing my phals under lights with about 13 hours of light per day, with no variable of amount of light for the season. I haven't seen any "negative" effects, just more growth. I don't really think that it matters as long as they are getting at least 12 hours/day.
What lights are you using? I have some non fancy florescent lights, and I think my timer is set to a little over 15 hours of light. Mainly because I'm trying to help my succulents that have a shelf in my cabinet. They aren't getting enough light, so I just leave the lights on a little longer. I think I've always done 14 hours. I agree with others, I really don't think light time makes a difference in making them bloom.

Thanks.
I am using T5 HO fixture with 4 lamps. I set it to be 14 hours on - from 6 am to 8 pm, and will keep it that way.
