I just got an orchid plant and the label says its a Phalaenopsis. It came from bunnings and comes in a pot but is also in this bendy plastic bowl container.
Oh and it's flowering and has two big leaves......

I have no clue what to do with it! HELP PLEASE!
How often and how much do i water it?
Do i remove it from the container?

Could you post pics.

First I just want to say a phal is the best plant you could have pick. Now as for watering it you will most likely only need to water it two times a week. Again please post some pics so we can see what your plant looks like. As for the pot it should be potted in a plastic pot and sitting in a decorative pot that is fine just remember to take it out of the decorative pot when you water it DO NOT set your plant in water this will rot its roots. To water Just take it out of its decorative pot and water it by putting the water in the top of the pot. You will also need to fertilize it. A good fertilizer is MSU orchid fertilizer.

Hope this helps good luck and welcome

Congrats on your first orchid!

Care is easy, but it does take a bit of patience, trial and error to learn proper care. The key is to have a willingness to learn.

I would suggest that you read through the thread "Phal abuse Ends Here" as it has tons of info on growing these!

Also, go to the American Orchid Society's website and pull up their Phal culture sheet for quicker information.

If you have any other questions after reading, be sure to ask away!

Welcome to Orchid Board

Take a look at this info in this discussion. Great for growing phals
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ends-here.html

I find the key is getting the watering right. Don't leave them standing in water, let them dry between watering and water well with plenty of water (then drain well) when you do water. There are other ways to water but letting them dry in between is the best way for beginners to get the hang of them. Get the watering sorted and then sort out the rest. Good Luck.
