ooooh kay. I think I can post hyperlinks now, so it's time to get help on the thing I really need help on. *rubs hands together*

the orchid my mom gave me has spots all over its leaves. can you guys help identify what's causing it and how I can help it?

and this is one of the phals I bought, I can cut this spike further back, but it just...really looks bad, is there anything else I need to do? the other stem looks fine.

I know its roots are crazy unruly...I can't wait for it to drop its blooms so I can repot the thing.

It's doing just fine. It's a phalaenopsis and the lower leaves are a storehouse for the plant. They tend to lose sugar/starch as the plant needs it. Normal. The roots don't need to be under the media. In their natural habitat they grow on trees and rock faces. No media or soil.
