Default

It's doing just fine. It's a phalaenopsis and the lower leaves are a storehouse for the plant. They tend to lose sugar/starch as the plant needs it. Normal. The roots don't need to be under the media. In their natural habitat they grow on trees and rock faces. No media or soil.
