Default Spike?

I am wondering if this a cym spike or a new growth. I am still trying to figure them out. It looks different then the others than have been growing. Thanks!

A spike. Notice the short sheaths at the base. Put a large rock or flat stake in front of the spike to make it go up. Just block it somehow. What is the name of this baby?

Very nice flowers. Pink on white? Blush pink on white? I like it. I should have repotted my beast last year. Spikes are shooting straight out the side. No way to get them to train up now. Pics to come.
