Hi all,
This just came into bloom and I wanted to share
It's a dendrobium Classic Gem x (Sri-rach x Snowflake) x self.
Flowers are a little over 1.5 inches across, non fragrant. Best part is that this was a $2 auction plant!
It's growing on a windowsill, gets water about 2x a week and blue miracle grow fertilizer at about 1/4 strength weekly.
Sorry the lighting isn't better, I'll see if I can get a better shot tonight.
Thanks, I was pleasantly surprised by the color and shape as well, I was expecting a puffier, whiter flower from the Classic Gem and Snowflake influence. I was very pleased to see that more of the Sri-rach came through.
Beautiful coloration and the petals look particularly thick and substantial. It a beauty!
Unless it is viral, you cannot go wrong with a $2.00 orchid!
Be sure and post this in the "Orchids in Bloom" section also!
Steve
I too love this kind of coloration! I have a Chao Praya Gem in bloom (although they are slowly fading after being in bloom for over three months) that look exactly the same as yours, except yours is a miniature version of what I have based on your description of flower size.
Mine has no fragrance at all, but these sure do look nice in bloom!
