I purchased a plant on e-bay that had been rescued from the forest during tree felling.
It arrived bare rooted.... so I mounted it on cork. I'm not sure if I have it upside down? (See plant next to window)
The orchid above it is a dendrobium speciosum var. hillii.... that I bought from the same source.
So.... upside down? It looked good the other way I have to admit... although the long slender psudobulbs would blow around in the breeze... I'm afraid they might break off if I hang them the other way around.
Hmm... I'm not familiar with the species, but it does seem as tho those canes would likely be or become pendant. Hopefully others will know for sure. At worst, you can see what the new growth does
I used to have a gracilicaule in a pot sitting upright like a kingianum but I honestly doubt it will care, you might just find that any new shoots head upwards.
lol... I didn't rescue the plant personally. I bought it on ebay from a contractor licensed in NSW to recover protected species from the forest, when the forest is being... errr... deforested. They come up regularly. This one had two seed pods and is approx 2 foot long. It was once hanging in a tree.... the trick will be keeping it alive long enough for it to settle in its new environment.
