Florescent light?????
My question is - I have read that a red spectrum is best for flowering and a blue is best for growth. The T-5 florescent bulbs with a 6400k, Do they have both spectrums in the bulb?
Thanks,
Dick

I use two 40-watt florescent lights for my orchid.

Yea, they make T5 bulbs in 6400k and 3000k color spectrums. There are other spectrums available as well.

6400K is considered a 'full' spectrum bulb and good for growing plants. That's what a lot of the high output T5 fixtures sold for orchid growing come with. I use them and they seem to work well.

I also use 6400K bulbs, but I do add in 1/4 3000K bulbs for addition red spectrum. This is for my phals and works well for me, and was recommended to me by some primo indoor growers.

The 6400K does contain both of the two ranges in its spectrum, but some growers will add in some other bulbs that are specific to those ranges for a greater mix- it's a bit of a personal call there. But 6400K is considered full-spectrum, so you should be covered.

Like others, I grow and bloom all of my phals under 6,400K alone, although I have added an 3,200K light to my other stand, but it is really impossible for me to tell if its made a difference, as I don't grow any phals in that stand.
