Default 2 new ones with no care info!? Help!!?

Hi all!
I'm new to posting here, and desperate for some advice... I just purchased Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' (looks very healthy with two spikes) and bc. kosh Wallis 'Paradise' (also very healthy, about 6 flowers and a couple buds).

However, I can not find any care info, and the grower I bout from offered no info except that the Paradise could be kept with my Catts (outside, full am sun, then under patio from about noon. Nights reach about 55, days 65-70).

Can anyone help me with this? right now, I'm keeping then with my Phals and it seems to be going ok, however I have noticed that the leaves of the Withcraft are not as rigid or taut as they were upon purchase...?

Thank you!!

What species is the Witchcraft? The blc can be put outside with your other catts as long as it doesn't get below 40 in your area. In what part of SD do you live? Makes a difference in what I suggest. Catts will live in Phal community but like more light. Right now things are slowing down due to cool temps and lower light levels. Don't water as much now. Wait till plants are dry then water well. Feed lightly weekly or less. Attend the San Diego orchid Club meetings held the 1st Teusday of each month room 101 Casa del Prado in Balboa Park in Hill Crest. You'll have a very good time.

The Withcraft tags reads: Monn. Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' AM/AOS

I will leave the Parardise with my Catts... Thank you so much!

I'm towards the Bay Park area. Very moist air, 50-70.

I've been watering weekly and am starting to cut back now, to a bit less. Waiting to a week and a half, as things aren't drying out that fast now.

Please attend the SD orchid club meeting. You won't regret it. It's a large club with lots of freebees and tons of info. But the best part is the people. Awesome folks.

I believe Monn. Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' AM/AOS is an intergeneric Catasetinae hybrid (Catasetum x Cycnoches x Mormodes). The genus name should be spelled out completely as Monnierara.

*** Monn. = Monnierara = (Catasetum x Cycnoches x Mormodes) ***

If I'm correct then it is named after Gene Monnier, (he used to own JEM Orchids, and was renown for Catasetinae). Which is why this intergeneric genus name doesn't "make sense" - (the intergeneric name contains no elements of any of the natural genus names of the plants the hybrid was formed from; instead it is named in honor of a former orchid nursery owner).

The "AM/AOS" is the abbreviation for the name of the award the plant received. The type of award is before the backslash. The organization that handed out the award is after the backslash.

AM = Award of Merit

AOS = American Orchid Society

Since it is a name assigned to a man-made hybrid, all the words in the name start with a capital letter.

Monn. Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' AM/AOS

Monn. Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' AM/AOS

The grex name to this hybrid is Millenium Magic.

Monn. Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' AM/AOS

The name that is in single quotations is the hybrid's cultivar name.

This should do well in moderately bright indirect light. Cattleya lighting may be a bit too much for this group of orchids.

They are for the most part, intermediate to warm growing.

This group of orchids originate from the New World tropics and can be found from certain parts of Mexico down to certain parts of South America.

Catasetinae have a distinct dormancy during the winter, but their ability to become deciduous should not be the determining factor to start withholding water. I've made this mistake before, and it cost me the plant. I'm not a Catasetinae expert, there are others on the OB who are better versed with growing these groups of orchids.

Bc. Kosh Wallis 'Paradise'

Bc = Brassocattleya = (Brassavola x Cattleya)

It is a man-made hybrid, so:

Bc. Kosh Wallis 'Paradise'

Kosh Wallis = grex name.

'Paradise' = cultivar name.

This clone was not awarded.
