Are those roots on steroids or new growths growing underground?? Weird looking!

They're pseudobulbs. Not sure why they're popping up ... errr.... I mean down.... there with the roots. Maybe the plant spent some time on its side (knocked over in the nursery) before I bought it?

That's so odd, so how do you deal with it now? Do you pot them pointing down and hope they grow upwards or what?

Could you prop them up just a bit and slowly ease them upward?

To me, the yellow pbulbs that were growing down with the roots look old. I think they are leafless back bulbs not a new growth. I would just cut or twist them off. They are yellow because they haven't gotten any light. The plant probably grew funny and the person who potted it last stuck the old pbulbs in the medium so the newer growths were growing upright. It does look funny though!
