Default More sun!

Bc. Maikai wants as much sun as possible. I grow it outside the whole year.

orchids4ever:
I really love the story and the pics; I have a similar issue with a cat. hybrid and am looking forward to more input. And everyone that responded had great input and pics also. I would love to call one of these beauts mine one of these days! The BrassoCatts are some of my favorites. (And to other members - his personal album is loaded with great pics!)
With that said, I hate to be the party pooper, but this post would be more appropriate placed in another category such as the Cattleya tribe or perhaps the Advanced Growing category; the introduction area is usually reserved just for that - introductions. But honestly, you will probably get more answers to your questions of frequency of blooms in one of those categories. And you should definitely post the blooms in the Blooming Section as you will have a lot of interest there.
I have posted incorrectly in the past, but just wanted to 'jog' you into correct placement of your posts as you will get more specific answers in the correct categories - not that the info you got was not great!
Again, hate to be the spoil-sport, but it does benefit everyone, but you the most, to post in correct categories.
Steve

Hi Picotee
I only got my Kitchen to grow Orchids ( i live in a Condo)and i can not get the Humitity high enough to grow mounted Orchids, i tried, but they all dry up and die on me.You are very lucky to grow yours outside, but up here in BC we got just to much rain and in Winter it is too cold,so this is not an option for me.But Thank you for your Advise-- - but i would only kill them if i tried.

Hi Stray59
No your'e not a party-pooper. I am pretty new to this Board and when i posted this i thought for being new this would be the Place since i am not really a Advanced grower, i am just lucky with some of them.
But i guess i was wrong.I am not very good at this Computer Stuff so i would not even begin to know how to move it now to a different Place. I have been trying to post some of my Pictures to the Gallery but all i get is Page not available, i followed the Direction-- but nothing is working. Thank you so much for liking my Pictures in my Album-- And i hope yours will give you some Flowers soon.

Stray59
one more thing-- if the maikai would not made buds this Time i would have tried this--- Jason from orchidsLtd. told me . I dont know how you grow your Orchids- but i grow under Lights. my C.jenmanii did not flower for 3 years (it was in Bark)and since my Lights are heating the Shelf above ( no need for a heat mat ) Jason told me to plant them in Spag--- and they have been Flowering every Years since.
If you are growing under Lights maybe try that. just a thought.

My Maikai Mayumi is approximately 10 years old and it is a consistent and reliable bloomer. It blooms every year without fail. The first photo is from October of this year when it had about 35 blooms and the second photo is from this moring, when I found 3 more new blooms that had just opened up. This is one of my very favorite plants.

Orchid4ever:
Don't worry about the thread placement - seems like a lot of others are enjoying your Pics. You may want to just copy and paste your initial post to some of the other categories, just to get more input. I appreciate your suggestion on a more moist medium. I know I am maintaining too dry of pot as I used to use bark chips on everything, but I used to live in a more humid home. This place sucks up moisture like sponge! It is a full time job just keeping the pebble trays full of water. My plants are constantly needing water. I will be undertaking a very large repotting soon - in excess of 100 need to be moved to a better medium.
Again - don't worry about the thread - a moderator may move it for you, but I don't think it is a big deal. There is a way you can do it yourself, but I haven't tried that yet. And besides, it is bringing out some phenom pics from others!
By the way - you sound like someone that could maneuver the Advanced category very well! Just jump in there.

If you can't place the plant outside - do you have a sunny window? It works!
Chiqui, I wonder if your gorgeous plant really is Bc. Maikai. Leaves and flowers look like a Maikai -Hybrid to me. Just stunning and beautiful!
Regards

OH my what a beauty
I am really tempted to move. Florida seems like the Place to be if you grow Orchids.
