i have two phalaenopsis orchids that the flowers wilted and the spikes turned brown so i trimmed them back a couple of months ago.
one of them looked pretty bad so i didn't hold much hope for it so i didn't pay as much attention to it (which now thinking about it is a bit backwards) but i watered it every now and then. it now has four new spikes growing, which i didn't expect, there is also new leaf growth which is amazing, but the lower leaves are wilting and one is now yellow. some of the top roots also look a bit dry and dead.
what would you recommend my next step is with this plant (first picture).
the other looked healthy the roots looked healthy and so do the leaves, a new leaf has come out but i haven't got any new spikes, but the top roots do look a bit crowded, and the previous spike that i cut back is now turning yellowy brown? what should my next step be for this one (second picture)
they are both now watered, let to drain then put back in pots in kitchen widow (no direct sunlight), then i let them dry out completely and then i water them again
any help would be much appreciated as these are my first orchids.
many thanks
