Default Orchid parents

Some plants list a parent as "self". Does that mean that the same BLOOM was used or, that two blooms from the same plant were used? Can you pollinate a bollm with itself?
thanks

Let's say you see this Oncidium Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance' (x self). This means that a bloom on this plant was either pollinated with pollen from the same or different bloom on this plant or it was pollinated with pollen from another plant with the same clonal name. Hope I wasn't too confusing.
