Bud, moss is working the best for me because you can easily tell when it is totally dry. You just need to find suitable pots that will allow it to dry fast enough (no more than 1 week is my preference). Clay pots are great with moss for my phals.

Stray59, I hope your next flasks will survive 100% and we see pictures of all your seedlings.
