Hi,this is an emergency.
I have a spike on my cattleya with 5 buds but the younger buds are turning yellow and droping off .Now i m only left with on bigger bud hope this one does't fall of.
May i know what is the cause of this and what can i do to prevent this.
Thank you
Hmmm. Not a cattleya expert but I have a few. This may be caused by a sudden change in conditions if you move it from the greenhouse or outside. Or if you just bought it in bud from a store or online it may be a little shocked and may drop its buds or blooms. It could also be stressed from something like underwatering or overwatering.
Oh,i see you are right this is the plant i just got back from the local orchid garden. But i'm still very sad about it.
By the way can u tell me when will the flower bloom again?
Thank you very much, bless you and your orchids
The cattleya will bloom again when it matures a new growth which is the psuedobulb and leaf. When it matures a new growth it may have bud developing along with it. It may have a growth far along already or it may need to start one. I will bloom again when it's ready it could be a few months to a year. Do you know the name of the cattleya?
