Default aerangis luteo-alba water requirements

hi, can you over water an aerangis that is mounted on cork bark? mine is growing but the roots turn black and die? help and thanks..

Thom, the short answer is:YES, you can over water a mounted aerangis luteo-alba. You have healthy roots and a flower spike forming, so I don't think your plant is suffering too much. I have 2 of these as well and my experience is that they like to dry off completely before you water again. They need very good air movement and will indeed show root deterioration very quickly when left in "stale" environment. They are very finicky about water quality, which may not be a problem for you, but if it's possible, water with RO, rainwater, or the like. Maybe all you have to do is move it closer to a fan.

Thanks Ezil, I haven't been able to log back on since I posed that question the other day. ...but thanks for your input to my problem. I have watered much less and have the fan on when I do water as per your advice! thanks much and I will post a pic of any flowers that aerangis produces!

Ezil,,,thanks again for your advice growing the aerangis luteo alba!

with the fan going when I water and using distilled water, the roots are not dying now!

plus, the spike is growing.

So thanks muchly for your fabulous advice!
