Default Dormant Vanda coerulea -problem?

My beloved little Vanda coerulea has become dormant on me. I have read on line that this is usual and not a problem - it is considered a good thing as it allows the vanda to produce larger and more long lasting blooms - but I have also read on line that this is a bad thing as it might eventually die I am not sure which one to go with.

I have noticed that it developed a bit of leaf tip burn on the end of the newest leaf and that is when I learned about dormancy in Vandas.

The temperature in my house during the day is 24c -78f and at night it is about 10c - 50c. It gets good air movement and it is under a high powered daylight bulb which gives off 6500k.

I just hope that it won't eventually die on me, what else can I do?

I wish I knew! I have one of these but haven't heard of them going dormant. Now I'm intrigued as well!

What are the other symptoms of vanda dormancy beside the burned leaf tip Susie? Can it be just a fertilizer burn on the leaf?
I am interested to find out more about signs of dormancy in vandas too.
Thanks

The tips of the roots have stopped growing as well and growth has slowed down.

AAhh. ok thanks.
I have many vandas and sometimes they do these things. None of them died after that though.
I just cut the blackened tip of the leaf and when they start growing new leaf it comes out fine.
Last winter I left my vandas in glass vases on the window very close to the glass when we had -30C outside and I think cold caused this on V. tessellata (note black tips on all the new roots):

I freaked out and moved them away from the window. Roots resumed growth after just couple weeks.
Your coerulea is most likely fine and will resume growth when ready.

Good luck.

Minus thirty!!!! I freak out when the temp goes down to 5c. That's is so good to know then. I thought that I had ruined it as the night time temps have recently got down to about 9c or so. I really hope that it is ok. I do feel better now that you seem to be 'mean' to yours too. I felt guilty about not keeping the heating on in that room but it's just too expensive. It is under a grow lamp which heats the area up to about 24c during the day though.

Thanks a lot for the info Orchideya, I am not scared anymore

Just to clarify - it was -30C outside, inside, with heating, the window area at night was probably close to your ninish.
I read somewhere that coerulea can withstand down to 5C, so you shouldn't worry too much.
They are tough little plants those vandas.

This Vanda species does and can go dormant. No problems.
