Here is my planifolia

Lepetitmartien:

"If you have a vanilla not planifolia, I'm interested."

If this imperialis grows big and able to cut, I'd like to trade cuttings for the Seychelle-native Vanilla phalaenopsis.

Your vanilla imperialis looks a lot like my polylepis.

I'm slightly puzzled as to how I'm going to force this thing up and down a mount or wooden branch. It's not exactly a soft stemmed, flexible thing. At least my polylepis certainly show a bit of resistance whenever I try to coax it. Mine is also a young plant and perhaps it will become easier to work with when it grows some more 'joints'.

I like the flowers of these types of vanillas. Love the purple lip.

Mr tech, it's not mine, but I'm looking for it.

Polylepis has a small flower (5 cm), imperialis is BIG, 16 cm across and the liana is about 4-5cm wide.

Vanillas are not for the faint of heart.

lepetitmartien:

If my imperialis grows big (see post #1) I'd really like to trade cuttings to Vanilla phalaenopsis (wild vanilla of the Seychelles).

Fortunately, both grow very fast

Right now I have planifolia, pompona and aphylla. The last two have to grow…

I've done some weeks ago a "world tour" of available vanillas for sale, and I've not seen phalaenopsis anywhere…

(sorry, only saw the post right now, browsing in my mail)
