Embreea rodigasiana - care advice?
My international friends
I bought some orchids last week; among them one Embreea and a basket for putting it inside.
Does this plant need some particular treatments or I can grow it as a Stanhopea?
Thank you!
I'll put some pic during the day
Have a nice day,
Filippo

Hi guys, here the pics!
Plant had completely dead roots after being packed for one month (more or less).
I think it's producing a floral stem, do you agree?

Hi Sonya (beautiful name!),
yes, hope to let it root soon.
I'm thinking about to cut the floral stem: a lot of energy wasted. What do you think?

Thanks
Hmm... I'm not an expert, but might consider cutting a spike since it looks like all the roots were clipped. But, I'm not sure ... Hopefully some others will chime in with opinions.

I know this is an old thread, but I know I've seen sbrofio active recently... I think? I'm wondering... What happened to this one? Did you figure out its culture & did it grow & flower for you?

Hi Mary! Yes I was active in the forum well, my embreeas were doing great but while I was away for holidays, my neighbours "forgot" to water them..... When I was back I tried everything but they were too much compromised :'( But I can say they need exactly Stanhopea care: light but not too much or leaves get sunburnt very quick, a lot of water while growing. Compost never dry.

Thanks for the update! I'm so sorry to hear that they succumbed to your neighbor! I've had that happen myself, and it can be heartbreaking :'(
