My First Vanda - seek for help as it seems unhealthy!
I had my first plant - the Vanda 2 weeks ago.
I noticed that my house has no direct morning sun light till yesterday I hanged it out of my house to absorb morning sun light. Before that I did water twice a day, then switched to watering once every two days as someone told me too much watering.
I started to water it with distilled water for the past 7 days, after reading an article in this website.
attached please find the pictures of my Vanda.
From the pictures, hope someone can advice me the basic knowledge like:
1) the leaves are turning to yellow, and some white spot, is it normal, if not, why?and what should I do?
2) shall I cut away the brown spot? How about some brown spot on the centre of the leave?
I had the first spray of Liquid Foliar last sunday. As was told to do so once a week.
Any other better to solution to help my Vanda grow healthier?
all comment are welcome.

I water my vandas every morning. When they're in bud I sometimes water twice a day and the flowers seem to bloom very well. They like fairly bright light but they can burn if moved from low light to brighter light too quickly. Protect them from direct sun in the middle of the day. Last year I fertilized once a week but this summer I actually fertilizer twice a week. Once a week is probably fine. The roots are very important on vandas. Once they develop a large number of roots the plant will be healthier and less likely to burn or get dehydrated. Your plant looks pretty healthy to me. Hang it in a bright location and water and feed often and it should be fine.

I'm not sure the quality of your water but I don't think you have to distill it, if it's high in chlorine, you can just let a watering can sit over night and the chlorine will evaporate.

yep, definitely dehydrated.
Water at least everyday when grown in hanging basket with no medium.

How can you tell?
I'm interested because I've got a few vanda seedlings.

I agree, it's not necessary to use distilled water. In fact the minerals in regular tap water will benefit the plant.

You may want to take a picture of their roots too.
My vandas take the strongest direct sun, but are watered by spraying on the roots only everyday, and fed weekly.

Yes, also deionised water isn't good either for plants or drinking. They lack the electrolites needed and actually end up leeching out minerals
