Need an Orchid Type Identification
Default Need an Orchid Type Identification

My daughter gave me a new orchid to add to my collection. Being a newbie at this hobby, I need to find out from the Board members the type of Orchid and the proper maintenance, light, watering, fertilizing, temperatures, etc.

Pictures are attached.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Oncidium alliance intergeneric hybrid. Others may have more exacting ideas.

Moderate light (east or west facing window if growing in windowsill), media should not dry out completely, neither a light nor heavy feeder (I fertilize the same as my Catts, Dens, Phals), intermediate -warm temps.

Great looking blooms!

It looks like a Colmanara variety to me. Care instructions: look at whiterabbit's post

Agree, probably one of the Colmanara Wildcat types. But there are thousands of hybrids, many looking very similar, so without a tag or genetic testing you can never say 100% and it will remain a NOID (no id).

Close enough to enjoy it and know roughly what to do with it though!

It looks like it's in moss: some people find moss great to grow in, some people find it really tricky. Hopefully someone will give you more advice on that!
