Default Psychopsis success, Haraella failure and a new addition

Last year I bought the Kalihi with 2 spikes and it's been blooming since. The 3rd spike grew while in my care.
My Haraella odorata blasted another bud. This bud was much more developed than the 1st one that blasted. It already had color and the dark spot and I was sure it would bloom, but then it just dried up and dropped off. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
A week ago I got a Encyclia cochleata alba, a beginner orchid. I repotted in sphagnum, although I'm scared of it. It's my 1st orchid in moss. The inflorescens got a little taller and the bud a little rounder since I have it. So far so good.
Tomorrow I should have a Maxillaria tenuifolia in the mail. Now I really have to stop buying orchids!!!

Congrats on Kalihi blooms and new Encyclia purchase!
With regards to Haraella - what is your humidity? It might be that low humidity resulted in bud blast, try to put it into humidity tray with clear dome, so it would keep 80 % around the plant.

Nice psychopsis! I only could get one spike from mine to grow! My last three broke for various reasons.
The Haraella should be fine as long as you don't keep it near places where there is low humidity and fluctuating temperatures. Where are you growing it?

Sorry about your Psychopsis spikes. I have been extremely lucky with mine.
The Haraella is hanging on the shelving by a west window. Out front are maples, so any sunlight is dappled. Temperature should not be fluctuating. Both spikes are working on new buds now and I have put a bowl of water under the mount. I hope that will do the trick.

Carpe, I think the humudity is the problem. Just putting a bowl of water or humidity trays will only raise the humidity by a bit except if the weather's hot. Then the humidity would be fluctuating if you don't monitor the bowl regularly. You might want to mist it instead.
Good luck !

Ok Kevinator, misting it is! How often would you suggest? Is it safe to mist in the evening too?
Thanks for the help!
