My little Haraella already blasted 2 buds on the same inflorescens. The other spike is doing well so far. I have not changed anything, watering, feeding etc. Any ideas why that is happening?
To console myself, I picked up a Phal. NOID at the grocery store.

I just bought one and the first bud was lost. I used a clear yougurt cup/lid as a mini greenhouse for mine. The next set of buds look fine so far. In my case, it was likely a lack of humidity and the fan.
I don't do anything to increase humidity for mine, and it hasn't caused blooming problems. Low daytime humidity during summer here, tho it does go up quite a bit at night, so I don't know how that may compare to other people's climates.
Cold or hot drafts could be another possibility ...
A big sudden change in temps ...
Hehe - glad you got yourself a new orchid to cheer yourself up!
I am very careful and paranoid about my spikes yet I get a flower or two that blasts on me....and this are Vandacious plants....I never had any problems with Phals....oh well....it just happens....
I love your new Phal even if its a NOID....
Thanks for the replies. A hot blast is a possibility. Whatever the cause, I hope it wont happen anymore and I will see those cute little blooms again.
My new Phal.NOID is doing great. I repotted it and it never missed a beat. I have a soft spot for white flowers.
And Bud, I've ordered a Brassavola nodosa yesterday from ebay. After seeing yours, I decided to give it another try. I'm already nervous about taking care of it, I don't want to kill again!
