time's flower give scent?
Hi all, I have a sharry baby in full bloom and the scent is the strongest early morning till around 11:00 am. And I have a Nodosa that also has its strongest scent in the morning. I always understood that they are suppose to be stronger in the evening If so why can't mine tell time?  I am not complaining because I get to smell them every morning before going to work  Just curious! |

Heat of the day and perhaps sunlight will proliferate their scents. However, I didn't know these two were night smellers.

B. nodosa is supposed to scent at night. It's nickname is Lady of the Night. Dave, are you sure yours is a nodosa? Many of the B.s look alike or very similar.

My Sharry Baby had its strongest scent in the morning hours when the sun was shinning on it. Unfortunately mine blooms in December and there aren't that many sunny December mornings. 
P.S. I've never had a Nodosa. So I would not know.

My nodosa is going to bloom soon. I'll let you know when it scents. Of course I may never know if I'm in bed sleeping when it's smelling good.  |

An explanation I've heard regarding the "night" fragrant blooms, which are usually white:
because they are pollinated by moths, which travel by night, the flowers don't need color to attract them, the moths are attracted to their fragrance instead.
