Default What do I do?

everyone I am wondering how to deal wih my den. It has decided to make flowers along with growing 10 new canes. The question is do I bring in my den soon to enjoy the flowers or leave it outside to continuing the cane growth?(as it is summer here) I know the flowers will not last very long if I do, but will it slow the cane growth if I bring it into the house. Also I purchased this I guess onc. type yesterday. It is a noid, but I am wondering if someone can give me an idea of what could be it's parentage. I am thinking maybe wilsonara. As the genera is so big I would like to try and get closer to it's culture than just oncidium. Thanks all.

Cane growth is more important than flowers if you had to choose.

I wouldn't expect there to be any problem bringing the plant inside, unless there is a big temp change which could possibly cause bud blast. You can put it in a window with comparable or lower light than it is getting outside. Most orchids grow just fine in lower than ideal light for a limited time (especially just for the few weeks it is blooming) - that has been my experience anyway.

Your Onc type looks to have Odontglossum in it's background - could be Wilsonara, or Odontioda, Odontocidium, Odontonia, ... Truthfully, most Onc alliance intergenerics really do take the same care - some minor tweaks may be needed, which you should be able to tell by how the plant is doing. But - the bloom on yours looks quite distinct, so someone else may recognize it - it is gorgeous, btw

I grow orchids to enjoy the beautiful blooms. If you have an outdoor area where you spent a lot of time, like a patio, I would leave the plant there and enjoy it. If not, I would bring it into the house when the flowers open and enjoy it there. A few weeks indoors won't hurt it.
