Encyclia garciana issues...
Ok, so I'm guessing this is a heat/lack of enough water issue based on the pleated leaves and dying riots. But my research indicates this is also a cooler grower, so should I bring it in with this heat wave going on? How moist should it be kept?

One thing you might consider is putting it in to s/h. I was having trouble with reed stemmed epi. until I put then in s/h in lava rock. Now they are all doing well. I potted one of my neighbour's for her in s/h and in just a few days it began to grow quickly.

Ok, though I have another reed stem Epi. That's doing great, although it is in a clay pot. Do you still think the change would be appropriate given that?

If it is doing well I would leave it alone. I tried the s/h because I found that the epi. can be picky when it comes to watering them. They like to be on the dry side, but what is too dry? The first one that I put in s/h has been blooming for over a year, so I think it likes it.

Try growing it in a clay pot.
Another trick would be to water during the early mornings and mid evening periods when it is naturally cooler.
You could also try watering with refrigerated water.
In warm weather, watering twice a day would not hurt it.

Ok, I'll probably repot then as suggested in the nest week. I've just been watching it get more ad more shriveled, even with watering twice a day. I guess it's the heat, but suppose it's also perhaps the humidity, despite how high it is now.
