Brassavola temp range?
I have two now, both mounted. One is the nodossa, and I believe the other is ovaliforma or something like that. I noticed in the 90F's that they didn't seem to fair well and appeared to grow roots more steadily inside in cooler temps. So, what temp ranges do you guys recommend?

Mine have been in 95-100 heat for the last couple weeks. Seem to be doing well.

Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like the leaves were drying up and the roots slowed.

I grow mine indoors at constant 80F , but I provide it with bright light and humidity....this summer it gets liberal amounts of water and fertilizer weekly weakly....
just remember that this is endemic to coastal areas of Mexico all the way down to central americas...and the west indies....
it needs tropical balmy air ....beach lighting and lots of humidity

OrchidWiz has the Charles and Margaret Baker's habitat data in it, and for B. nodosa, they say the temps are upper 60's night, upper 70's day in winter, and mid-70's/upper 80's in summer. Heat ain't gonna hurt 'em, but water more - but not with cold water, when they are hot.
B. ovaliformis (aka tuberculata, but apparently recognized now as perrinii) has similar temps.

Do you need to mist/spray water daily even when your plants is outside in high humidity like south Florida? How about every other day ?
I have a mounted one, I wish I could stick it in a pot....daily spraying and watering would not be needed then.

I have very low humidity here in San Diego most of the summer and I have mine outside under 55% shade cloth and sometimes I'll miss a watering and it has no problems with that. The bigger the plant the longer you can wait.... If you see the leaves starting to shrivel then you'll need to water more.

We have been having a hot summer and I forget to water my brassavola now and then (mounted, bare-root). It hasn't wrinkled but it has plenty of purple coloring and new growths. I do soak it about once a week. The roots should turn green when you water, if not, it is time to soak it until they do turn green. One thing that can cause wrinkling, though it is highly unlikely, is black rot. This killed my last nodosa. Again, this is very unlikely the cause.
