Leaf tip rot?
Ok, got another question for everyone.. I have a mounted Dendrobium thyrisflorum and a Dendrobium hancockii that are on opposite ends of the yard with the same problem. The tips of some of the leaves are browning, but i do not think that it is a salt buildup problem. It looks more like rot from overwatering or something. The ends get really thin and like flexible or something and i dont know what to do besides cut them off. I don't know how i would water any differently either. At least with the mounted one. I've been doing it the same way for a year or more and it just happened now.

May we see a picture or two? It would help. It sounds like age. Dens and oncids get brown tipped leaves as they age. The plant is using up it's stores of starch.

Yes I'll get you pictures as soon as I can. Ya most of the tips are on older leaves I believe but I think it is on some of the newer leaves too which is odd. It just seems like some sort of Rot to me so it worries me but it's only on two of my dendros. And then I think how could it be on a mounted plant with no media. It was pretty warm i'n the last few days. Maybe it could be that?! idk

I had the same problem on my hancockii... It was do to low humidity and high air movement that would dry out the thin leaves and dry out the plant too fast.

I will add after potting it fixed the problem for the most part.

seems like you are giving it drought conditions whereas it should have air flow and moisture....its summer the growing cycle of making more roots and leaf buds and you need to up on water on your Dens together with brighter light....you said your live in a dry and arid place so I cant imagine you overwatering your plants....the atmosphere will suck up any moisture your plants will be needing=you need to boost the humidity and moisture to compensate for the dry heat

Similar and it was due to overwatering. Happened in about two days. Not saying that is the cause. Just looks similar. My oncidiums and brassias look like your dens sometimes. It could be from the heat. I know it was very hot last week.

Also, Anthracnose causes yellowing at the tips. It might be a good idea to treat with a fungicide just to be safe.

Uh oh, I have 2 that say I need to water more and one says I need to water less haha! I've been checkin humidity recently and it's been around 35-40% during the day so it's not super low. I have a dendrobium longicornu right next to the hancockii i'n the same conditions and it looks absolutely perfect. What would I do with the mounted one? Should I keep it lower to the dirt to increase humidity maybe?
