Hello and welcome!

My guess is that you have some kind of Paphiopedilum. I'm just guessing from the picture. I hav no experience at all with these orchids, but if you have a look under the link to the Cypripedium Alliance, you will at least find pictures of plants that look quite similar to yours.

Good luck with it! And enjoy it!

You say it is your first orchid? Well, in that case it should come with a warning. They're highly addictive, and they tend to kind of just jump into your shopping trolley and beg to be taken home. Don't say I didn't warn you when you're running out of window sill space and still can't seem to be able to stop acquiring new ones.

Welcome to OB!

Your plant is a Paphiopedilum as Silje suggested above, and it is most sertainly an complex hybride between sevar specie. You will find alot of information on Orchid board about Paphiopedilum and other specie, just explore and ask question when you have any!

I love the paphs. because the blooms last so long, read up on them, they are a great group to collect and they grow well inside.

to the Orchid Board! Your aunt gifted you with a beautiful Paphiopedilum, the abreviation is Paph. It's also called a Slipper orchid, because the pouch looks like a slipper. I have 6 slippers and my Paph. Pinocchio is blooming right now.
If you have questions, just ask, there is a wealth of knowledge here and everyone is very helpful.

Welcome! Beautiful bloom on your paph. I just got my first two paphs not too long ago.

I agree with Silje, orchids are addictive. If I'm not careful, I find myself bringing home another one.

Welcome to Orchid Board

As others have said you have a Paph, but it's very likely a hybrid and not possible to give full name to. Don't worry about that though, we call then NoID here if we only know the genus and not the species/grex. They are just as pretty and enjoyable when they don't have names
