Just my 2-cents: I water all of my mounted orchids by dipping them in a bucket of half-strength fertilizer with every watering. I know the 'weakly/weekly' stuff, but they are THRIVING with a higher dose of fertilizer and have shown no signs of burning, whatsoever. I figure that in nature, they are supplied with lots of nutrients all the time: animal poo, rotting leaves, etc. I think it accounts for the high number of growths they produce, as well as TONS of blooms. My Bl. Morning Glory, especially.... it has turned into a MONSTER in just 2 years. I lost track of how many new growths is had months ago....! 16? 18? something like that!

How to fertilize mounted Orchids Male
Default Water temp important

I use an aquarium heater - set to around 77f - in a 2 gallon watering can. This ensures that I spray and water at a consistent temperature throughout the year. The can also helps with fertiliser, I use a dose for 1/2 gallon every watering ( once a month, no fertiliser ).
I use about 6 gallons a week.

Here is another method that works well. This is the suprsized version but it can be scaled back to accomodate a few small mounts (either mixing in a small container and pouring it over the mount or filling a pan and dipping your mount). Dpping them like this has no ill effects and actually gets fertilizer to the leaves which can absorb the food as well as the roots. It is a form of foliar feeding. The advantage of mounts is that you can water and feed more often than in potted culture where you are always weighing the advantages and disadvantages of watering. Too much and it rots. Too little and it starves. So here is one of my methods I use to water and feed my mounts.
