Getting ready to move

My orchid is done flowering, and it's time to cut the spike. Since I am moving next week from hot and humid GA to dry Colorado Springs should I wait on the spike cutting?

So far on the trip (I'm driving there) I plan on getting a box so the orchid doesn't get knocked over, and no leaving it in the car unattended for long periods. Any other tips?

It looks like Colorado Springs has an OS, so that is super exciting.

I would cut the spike if it's done flowering... one less think to worry about breaking.

If its done flowering.... Sure.

Dont let any sun hit it while your traveling. It will get sun burnt.

I'm assuming it is a phalaenopsis and yes cut the spike. Dab a little cinnamon on the cut end to help dry it out. I'd put it in a box with some wet cloth or moss to help keep it humid. When the sunlight is softer like in the late afternoon, I'd put the plant in some light to help it along. Pack it up well so it doesn't get jossled around during the trip. Colorado Springs is a nice town. You going to school there? It is cccccold in the winter though. Plan accordingly.
