First blooming since purchase, but why are the petals not flat. I haven't moved the pot since the buds formed?

Wow! That's quite the showy one! Very nice! I'm not sure why the petals aren't flat, but I have one that they re-curve back a lot and I think it is just genetics. Sometimes it could be humidity but some just grow that way.

Beautiful! I don't know why the petals are like that - I do have one Catt intergeneric that the first two bloomings the flowers didn't open properly, and I became resigned to that it was just how that one was - but the next time it bloomed, they opened just fine - so perhaps it's just due to inmaturity

Beautiful colors! It could be a genetic issue, or related to humidity. You'll only know once it has bloomed a few times.

Genetics, as well as a lack of humidity surrounding the buds during development and when open, can cause the petals as well as the sepals of a flower to reflex.
