If a species, lets say Encyclia cordigera is crossed through flower pollination with another Encyclia cordigera is the outcoming plants raised from flask to adult hood considered a species still? Is it still an Encyclia cordigera or would it be considered a species hybrid?

Next question: Is Encyclia cordigera and Encyclia cordigera var. alba the same species or would it be considered a seperate species? Like.... Laelia purpurata (sp?) var carnea or var alba or var flamea etc.. are these all considered variations in the species or are they seperate species within the same genera? (i hope this question makes sense.)

Last question: Some of my new growths on my orchids are developing a strange looking leaf that looks crinkled or bent or something. Is this due to insufficient humidity? or not enough light?

Ben

Also a question for Bud if you happen to check this post. I recently got a Lockhartia lunifera. How do you grow yours? Would it be better if i left it in a window and gave it lots of water? Or could i possibly grow it outdoors here in southern california?

I saw your plant and it looks amazing. I love Lockhartias and hope that i can grow this into a nice specimen like yours!
