Contrary to the above forumers I would support the Ice cube watering as long as you do it quite often and not with a couple of ice cubes! I have 16 phals and spend most of last year watering them with filtered ice from my fridge since the tap water is too hard. They are doing great. As long as the cubes are not touching the roots i found this to be tolerated with no stress from my phals. For the results of this methods you can check my phals post! All they need is light and water... If you decide to use cubes then you must water them more frequently. As for the ice, it melts and drips and the temp of the dripping water is considered cool, not cold. After all rain is not at room temperature! Good luck with your phals!!!

well the roots i can see are all over the top of the pots, so there isnt anywhere to put the ice where they arent somehow touching the roots, and what medium are you using?

i am using medium bark. Basically the same goes with my phals as for the roots. I try to choose the site with the fewest roots and away from the trunk. Basically as peripherally as possible. And to be honest I haven't witnessed any strees on the roots even if they have been touched by ice (a little bit).

From what I can see of the roots in the bottom of the pot they look healthy. I think you were under watering and need to water more. Water how I described in my earlier post. Don't let these guys go dry for too long. I really recommend using the skewer method. Get some kabob skewers and follow my directions on how to use them in my earlier post. It really takes the guess work out of watering. I have heard that some members had a hard time with watering until they started using this method and now their orchids are doing a lot better. The droopy leaves won't firm up again but the new leaves the plant grows should be firm and normal. That yellow leaf can be removed. It should come off easily. If you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask!
