Some purple growth on the side of the old fan, what is it - a spike or a new fan.
I think it is a new fan, am I right?
Thanks.

I don't really know neos, but I would guess it's a new fan.

I only have one small neo and went out to look at it. Mine doesn't have the black at the base. Is that normal??? Or is it starting to get black rot at the base of the leaves? I hope it's normal. The neofinitia's I see at the shows are beautiful. I just don't have room.

Thank you everybody. New fan is good too. More fans - more spikes in future, right?
James_mickelso, it is more dark purple than black and is firm, it was there from its arrival and doesn't spread, so I thought maybe it should be there.
Although now you got me worried

The color is normal. Depending on the variety, the base of the leaf can be green, brown, purplish....

With all these Neo threads today it makes me miss having Neos, so I just went ahead and ordered one!

Way to go, Camille! I just added three more. One has never bloomed for NWO but is really tiny and won't take up space, one is a pineneedle (is it true these need thirty growths to bloom????) and the other is a pink one.
1) Awa Har Beni
2) Benisuzume
3) Mameba Nishiki
Anyone else have these ones?

Great! Thank you Camille.
Good for you! Which variety did you order?

Mine is Shojo and should have pinkish spurs. I really want the one with green blooms. It will be my next purchase when I see that I can bloom this first one.
