Welcome to your first Phalaenopsis orchid then catweazel. These should get dappled light, no direct sun if possible, and do well in a windowsill. It looks like its in a bark mix from the photo. This should mean watering about 1 time per week. Just stick a chopstick or similar into the media and pull it out. If it's damp/wet, you can wait a few days to water. I fertilize every week with a 1/4 of the recommended fertilizer dose. I'm giving you the link below to caring for Phals. It's a lot of information, but remarkably helpful and detailed throughout. Good Luck, great orchid!

Hi it's a Phalaenopsis. You won't find any more accurate ID, many many many hybrid Phals are sold in the UK (and elsewhere in the world) which have never had a name registered.

Don't worry about that though, it will require standard Phalaenopsis care and we can help you with that.

Take a look at this thread. It's long but worth a read through to understand Phals and their care. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ends-here.html

You can also get general care advice here. http://www.aos.org/Default.aspx?id=204
