Another masdie is spiking!!

At least it looks like a spike to me. What do you think?
It is masd. Peppermint Rock x ignea and I have no idea how the flower should look. It was a freebe for Ecuagenera.
Element of mystery adds up to the general excitment of spiking masdevallia in my far from ideal indoors conditions.

I can't wait for yours to bloom! I got this cross from Ecuagenera in Feb. as well and while they had photos of its parents, there were none of this one! I had to buy mine I should give it a closer look and see if I have any spikes. I have less than perfect conditions too as we don't even have our shade cloth up yet and are under renovation in the greenhouse. My hubby has to do some caulking on the roof before the shading goes up and we are having more rain than usual this year. so I am doing my best to keep it out of bright sun and somewhat cool!

Silken, you are so lucky to have a greenhouse. I am still working hard on convincing my husband that I really need one .
Luckily I discovered that our basement keeps around 64F pretty stable , so my masdies and paphs live there. So far so good(fingers crossed).
I will update the picture when/if it blooms.

You will probably find as it get's bigger it will start producing them all the time. That's what I've found with my oldest masdie which since last year has been either in flower or producing spikes all the time.
