Vandas and crown rot

Since they have similar growth structures to phals, are they susceptible to crown rot? May be a stupid question as I think I already know, thus the reason why some people put their baskets sideways as opposed to upright.

They are not as susceptible to crown rot as Phals are, but they are known to come up with the problem.

Vandas do naturally grow upright and in all different kinds of directions in the wild, so the likelihood of water getting trapped in the crown and rotting it out is low, provided there is good air circulation to dry it out fast enough before it can cause serious problems.

I find that Vandas bounce back from crown rot far easier than Phals do, should it ever be an issue.

I agree. As long as there is good air circulation there should be no problem with crown rot. Because vanda leaves are tougher than many other orchid leaves, I also find them less prone to insects such as scale.

I've never had a vanda get crown rot but I've had some fungus problems with a few of them. Mostly leaf spotting fungus. I assume it's because I water my vandas a lot more often than my other orchids. Occasionally I'll lose a few leaves to, what seems to be, a fugus. I actually spray my vandas with a fugicide more often than my other orchids.
