Rise and Shine leaf cleaner

Rise & Shine contains no oils. Is made from a natural soap that is derived from vegetable and coconut oils, and also contains isopropyl alcohol and quaternary ammonium salt disinfectants.

It is a leaf cleaner, not a leaf shine product, but it also has insecticidal, fungicidal, algaecidal and virucidal properties.

That's what I thought! I don't think that it's the product that isn't allowed by AOS for judging because it doesn't have wax in it like other products. Am I correct?

Just let the leaves remain dirty. Pretty shiny leaves attract unwanted attention from both marauding insects and people who seem to feel a need to stroke and pinch shiny leaves (whereas the ones that look like they've just come out of the jungle tend to be bypassed--at least by humans). You could also just hose aim the garden hose at them once in awhile to dislodge any bird droppings, dead leaves or other unwanted material. I believe in a tough love approach to the orchids. :-)

Question, does the Rise and Shine remove the white residue from crummy water ? Off and on a plant will pick up some of it from the mist fan . Gin

I can't hose them down, I live in an apartment, no yard or balcony.
Plus it is my belief that dirty dusty leaves attract critters. Especially mites. I have no proof on this matter though.

Yes, it has taken the white spots or deposits off for me. But lemon juice has also done a good job too.

it feels great to be back! I'm getting restarted after a minor lapse in the hobby. I'm anxiously expecting my four new Aerangis to arrive today or tomorrow.

I used it yesterday and today was a cool sunny morning. The leaves look good. I think I could have done a better job, as some spots remained on some leaves, obviously my fault as there is no reason why it should work on most leaves and not on a few spots here and there.
It seems to be a great product, and I used it on my other plants as well, Anthuriums and family and my big palm tree (actually dragon tree) which was in dire need of some dusting.

The page reached via the link below has some unsolicited photos sent to me by Rise & Shine users. How well it works is, to some extent, based upon haw bad off the leaves were in the first place, and of course, how you used it.

I use it primarily as an insecticide, using the "cleaning" aspects of the product as a bonus, "cleaning" the bad critters right off!
