I have one mini that I water every other day and one that takes 5 days. There is no difference in the potting material or pot at all.

We'll see what I'll do. I won't do anything until tomorrow anyway since it's too late at the moment (I should have gone to bed at least two hours ago). :)

Mutant, you already checked roots recently I think, so it's time to let this poor plant be and try and grow some new roots. By un-potting it every week or two, it will never get established.

I have one particular phal that starts to get shriveled leaves every time it blooms. It's one of my best growers but... A month or so into the bloom cycle ALL the leaves start to wilt. It's the only one that acts like this. I always cut the spike when i can't take anymore. Hope this helps.

Exactly what I felt, so you guys will just have to take my word for it when I say the roots looked fine.

The spike is no more! I couldn't watch it deteriorate any longer while the buds and the spike just got bigger and longer, so I cut it today. This guy needs to focus on getting established and put out some healthy leaves and roots and no spikes and flowers! It was a shame, but I care more about being able to keep this guy alive until I've figured out how to care for it properly. Good thing about the spike cutting - now I have a skewer in the medium (the stake that was used to supports the spike)! :D

Hope you put the spike in water then, with any luck you can still enjoy the blooms!

Wooden toothpick instead of a skewer? A dinky skewer for a dinky plant. :)

Dang! I KNEW there was something I forgot to do... Oh, well, at least I know what they look like until next time it blooms, and maybe I'll get a name on it and its three NoID colleagues (the two Phal. Jiaho's Pink Girl wannabees).

Of course! Why didn't I think of that? Excellent idea, thanks!
