At least I don't think so!

First pic is a mystery Lycaste. I repotted it recently and there's the start of a new growth under the surface, so I'm sure that's prompting the loss of the leaves. According to the reading I've done (trying to find it's possible identity... lol....) sometimes young plants of deciduose types don't lose their leaves in autumn. I believe the spots are snail damage, but I'm keeping it under quarentine protocol until I have healthy clean new leaves! So the sooner the better... and if the new growth comes with flowers even better!

Next few pics are of my NOID cambria, believed to be Pagan Lovesong. I got it most of a year ago in bad shape, and it's been sitting in it's pot doing nothing, except it did loose a pulb, and the others have got thinner and thinner. Just over the last week two leaves have yellowed, and I felt it was make or break time! And a good time to re-stake it... have a look how few bad roots it had... Look what I found splitting one of those leaves at the base!!!

Lycaste loosing leaves I wouldn't worry about specially if the bulbs are green and roots a healthy. But the cambria, "ouch" and good luck!

Ouch and good luck indeed... but my feeling is it was either going to die or do something, and it seems to be doing something! And I think those particular bottom leaves dying off is part of that.

Last spring, I bought a blooming encyclia that looked great until I got it home and went to repot it. I dumped it out and found that under the lovely leaves, everything was rotting and shrivelled. It seemed rather hopeless but I cleaned it up with alcohol and it somehow managed a new small growth and roots by autumn. This year I see another growth beginning so it is going to survive (though it will take a year or two before it blooms again, I fear). It is always a relief to see new growth when a plant has been struggling. Good luck with both!

Good luck with yours too! Hopefully it won't be too long for blooms for any of us!
