Default Yellowing leaf on phal hybrid

What could happen if two bottom leaves started to yellow from the base, not the tips?
The roots are not great, but there are still some good ones. The new leaf is coming nice and green, but this yellow at the base worries me a bit. I have peeled off one of those leaves (stupid move as it took couple good roots with it) and it seems that actual plant stem is green (pale green) under them.
Did anyone ever have it and what was the outcome?
Thanks a lot.

Personally, if there is active root growth and a new leaf coming, I wouldn't worry too much. I'd cut off the yellowing leaves, very lightly dust with cinnamon while protecting the roots from it as cinnamon may slow root growth. By cutting off the yellow leaves you divert energy away from healing to root growth and the new leaf. When I repot, I cut bottom leaves that are unsightly or slowly withering away all the time.

I agree, the loss of bottom leaves on phals can be normal and new root growth is a good sign. Cut yellowing bottom leaves off rather than pulling them, so that you don't damage the plant.

Thanks.
Well, it is bottom leaf, but usually in the normal aging process bottom leaf starts yellowing from the tip, doesn't it?
I have included pictures here:

I never had this kind of yellowing on phals before and it looks disturbing. When re-potting - the bottom part of plant base looked rotted, I cut it off.
What do you think?
Thanks again.

That looks like a bellina or violacea grex.Anyway I have a violacea that is currently losing a leaf in exactly the same way. I never cut leaves off, the leaf returns "nutrients" to the mother plant as it dies and then separates normally.

I'd drench it with some Cleary's 3336F fungicide BEFORE you do any cutting.

I already did all the cutting
We don't have Cleary's here in Canada. I found Safer's Defender - some fungicide that is based on sulphur. Would that one work?

It is Phal Tsay's Evergreen, not sure what species it comes down to. I looked up the parents (hybrids too), but didn't have the patience to find every ancestor from the tree.
Is it the bottom leaf on your violacea? Does the plant base on yours look the same?
Thanks

mine looks the same. Yours looks healthy, has 2 spikes.
I would only worry if that area was soft or started spreading.
Let us know what you eventually do as feedback adds to everyone's knowledge.
